Mayamit Falls 42
Registration for the Miyamit Falls Trail Marathon is now open! MF42 is part of the Clark Miyamit (CM50Ultra) Trail Race Series. The race provides a glimpse of the finale race, the longer and tougher CM50Ultra which is held towards the end of November each year, November 27, 2016 for its 6th Edition.
Miyamit Falls Trail Marathon gives runners a rare chance to see the iconic Miyamit Falls by traversing the route is mostly fire trails, dirt road and single track trails. Runners shall go through lahar, dirt roads and a hilly route with a picturesque view of Pampanga, Mount Arayat and mountain ranges. The elevation gain and the cut-off makes the race a challenging one. Miyamit Falls Trail Marathon is happening on October 2, 2016 at the Alviera, Porac, Pampanga.
Get Ready to be Challenge by the Ascent and the Cut-off
This not your easy races as you’ll have to be able to brave about 2,114 meters of elevation for the 42 kilometer category in under 10 hours and 1,160 meters of elevation for the 26 kilometer category in under 8 hours. With the tight cut-off especially for the 42 kilometer category, there are required qualifications and experience requirements for this. The 26 kilometer distance cut-off is much more friendlier to encourage newer trail runners to progress to tougher races like Miyamit.
The 42k runners will go through a long ascent of single track trails, an old trails used by the Aetas, towards the “peak” (3kms near the caldera of Mt. Pinatubo). The iconic Miyamit Falls is the last turnaround point for both distances before heading back to the finish line. You’ll definitely fall in love with the views and most specially the falls as even more seasoned and elite runners pause a while to snap a photo or take a dip in the cold water before giving their last push towards the finish line. Finishers of the race will get finisher’s medal, meal and shirt.
Be Prepared and You’ll love the Experience
With the right preparation, MF42 is an ideal venue for those who would like to venture into trail running. Trail running seems to be the organic progression from road races because of its inherent natural attraction to humans. For seasoned long distance trail runners, the race is an ideal conditioning/training race or a time to test their limits. For everyone, it is the time to go back to nature, enjoy the beauty the course offers and surpass the challenges the route shall serve, says Race Director Atty. Jon Lacanlale.
Registration is ongoing. This year’s edition will have a long list competitive runners both local and international. The line-up also consists of endurance athletes who are first timers in the sports of trail running, mountaineers, triathletes, fitness enthusiasts, among others. As an annual tradition for most of our veteran trail runners, we expect them to be the ones manning some of our critical aid stations together with the locals and the aetas.
Register now before slots are filled up.
