Pilipinas Akyathlon 2017

The Sky is your playground at Pilipinas Akyathlon 2017.  It’s a trail running tour around the Tinongdan Indigenous Heritage Site. It offers 3 categories that includes a 42 kilometer Sky Marathon, which will take you up until 2,150 MASL at Moung Ugo’s Summit,  a 25 kilometer mountain run and a newbie friendly 10 kilomenter road to trail run.  Pilipinas Akyathlon is the premier Skyrunning event in the Philippines and it’s happening at Tinongdan, Itogon on February 5, 2017.

Pilipinas Akyathlon

Sky’s the limit.

The Trail is Our Playground and come 2017 trail season, the Sky will also be our playground with Pilipinas Akyathlon.  The Philippines is lucky to have several mountain peaks that can showcase a challenge like this.  It’s an all new experience running in the midst of the clouds and appreciating the beauty that surrounds you.

Pilipinas Akyathlon is the premier Skyrunning event in the Philippines. The 2017 edition will have 3 categories:

  • 42km SkyMarathon®
As the main event, the 42km SkyMarathon® will determine the Filipino Skyrunning Champions (male and female). It is an out-and-back race that starts at the Tinongdan Indigenous Heritage Site and follows the trail leading up to the summit of Mount Ugo (2,150 masl). It then retraces the same path (with minor variation) back to the Finish line.
  • 25km Mountain Run
The 25km Mountain Run uses the same route as the SkyRace® with a u-turn at Sitio Lusod.
  • 10km Road to Trail Race
The 10km Road to Trail Race is an introductory course into trail running. It’s composed of roughly 30% road and 70% trail.

Runners will be privileged to run across rice fields, under a pine forest canopy, and over hanging bridges to cross the Agno River. Participants will share the trail with the local Ibaloi communities that reside on the mountain as well as their livestock.  It’s a scenic journey to an even more scenic destination.  It’s a challenge that’s worth trying for trail runners whether you’re experienced or still trying to learn the ins and outs of trail running.

Each runner is expected to be self-sustaining, with his/her own hydration gear and nutrition. There will be medical/aid & water refilling stations in multiple points along the route.  Trail running is all about the experience. Pilipinas Akyathlon 2017 is an experience that will physically and mentally challenge you and also visually entice your senses with the natural beauty of the mountains. So let’s play in the sky.
