Race Report: King of the Mountain (OST and FL)

King of the Mountain

King of the Mountain trail series have challenged trail runners into a step ladder journey in Mount Ugo via Kayapa, Nueva Viscaya.  The first leg had runners venturing the mountains on a half and full marathon via Mount Ugo Marathon.  The second leg is a 50 kilometer Old Spanish Trail and a 100 kilometer Four Lakes Scenic Adventure along the mountains.

The Mountains are calling

When it comes to bucket list adventures for hardcore trail runners, the King of the Mountain trail series is top of the list.  It’s not an easy ride as you have to endure thousands of meters of elevation gain, a mix of different trail surfaces and terrains, and a long and mentally challenging distance to conquer.  Mount Ugo, which has really a lot of vantage points to explore, plays host to the King of the Mountain runners.  Trail runners came and conquered another leg of King of the Mountain trail Series.

The Old Spanish Trail was a 50 Kilometer distance while the Four Lakes was the full 100 distance.  Both are step ladder races for the Hardcore Hundred Miles and the Pulag 100 happening on May 19 and 20 at Kayapa, Nueva Viscaya.  It’s more than a run as its a fellowship of runners all united for the love of the trails and adventure.  Runners came and got challenged once again by the trails and the elevations.

We’ve compiled select photos of Active Pinas Photographer Eva Marie Soquena taken along the route.
